Direct to Film

What is DTF printing?

DTF printing stands for “Direct-to-Film” printing, which is a method where a design is printed directly onto a special film and then transferred using a heat press to various substrates like t-shirts, allowing for full-color, high-quality prints on a wide range of fabrics, even dark colors, without the need for pre-treatment or special fabric types; essentially, it’s a versatile way to apply designs to garments using a film transfer process.

Key points about DTF printing:

Process

The design is printed with specialized inks onto a PET film (a plastic sheet), then a layer of adhesive powder is applied to the wet ink, followed by curing with heat to set the design.

Versatility

DTF can be applied to various fabrics like cotton, polyester, blends, and even difficult-to-print materials like denim or leather.

Advantages

  • Prints on dark fabrics without limitations
  • High-quality, vibrant colors
  • No need for weeding (like with vinyl)
  • Can print intricate details
